A friend of mine got this generator at a sale a week ago.
Power Lite Electric plant
model 64mx4946a-1
serial 76303907
ac volts 115 kva 35 watts 350
pf.1. amps 3.1 cycle 60
dc volts 15 amps 10 watts 150
rpm 1800
gen 16 26600
gen data 5005
It did not run but he has messed with it this week and got it running. It has a start button on it and he hooked it up to a 12 battery and he got it started after he cleaned the points. It has two sets of points on it. It will run with the battery unhooked.
The generator has two sets of brushes. Two on the armature and two on a disk on the end of the armature. They look like they are not hooked together.
When he touched to of the wires together from the one on the disk? It made a spark like it might have been 110 volts.
When the motor was running, but no wires touching. I think he said they were not touching, There was a coil? about 1/2 inch around with wires wrapped around it and he said it started to get hot so he killed the enigne before it got to hot.
Neither one of us know much about generators so can anyone tell us about this generator and where to go from here.
I took some pictures with my phone. But the boss who knows how to down load them will not be back till Wednesday evening.
So if anyone has any information on this unit, who made it for Wards, how old it might be how to get it to put out volts etc.
I know there are some smart people o here who can help us get it running right. If anyone responds to this I will tell you how much he payed for it.
